FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What is Kitasa?
Kitasa is an Android app for Tanzania that keeps tenancy records: rent, receipts, contracts, shared bills and LUKU electricity, plus a housing marketplace. The name is the Swahili word for a door lock.
Does Kitasa receive or send money?
No. Kitasa records payments; it does not receive or send money. You pay as usual (M-Pesa, Mixx by Yas, Airtel Money, bank or cash) and then record it.
Is it free?
Yes, Kitasa is free to use for now.
Where can I download it?
The Android version will be on Google Play soon. We will put the link here.
Does it work on budget phones and weak networks?
Yes. Photos are compressed before sending, and the last information you saw stays visible when the network drops.
Can I use it in English?
Yes. Swahili is the first language, and you can switch to English inside the app (the Me tab) or on this website.
